Deskew and perspective
You send a photo or a skewed scan. The preprocessing service straightens the image (deskew), corrects perspective and removes distracting shadows. Result: a clean PNG so that OCR makes fewer errors.
Decoupled from OCR core
Preprocessing (lex-img-prep) runs as a separate service. The OCR engine (lex-eye) can optionally send each image there first. The pipeline stays clear and you benefit from better recognition on poor scans.
Computer vision pipeline
Orientation (e.g. Hough), deskew, perspective correction, shadow removal and adaptive thresholding – no GPU, quick to deploy.
